PS&S, the powerhouse New Jersey architecture and engineering firm, is officially taking its “Garden State” expertise to the “Tar Heel State.” The Warren-based firm announced Friday the acquisition of Priest Craven & Associates, Inc., a move that establishes a major foothold in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.
The acquisition of the Raleigh-based civil engineering and surveying firm marks a significant milestone in the 64-year history of PS&S, as it looks to export its multi-disciplinary model beyond its traditional Northeast stronghold.
For PS&S, this isn’t just about adding a new office—it’s about strategic entry into one of the fastest-growing economic hubs in the United States.
“This acquisition is part of a strategic growth plan we set forth to grow PS&S with expanded capabilities and greater geographic reach,” John Sartor, president and CEO of PS&S said. “North Carolina, particularly the Research Triangle area, has long been a target market for us.”
By absorbing Priest Craven, PS&S gains an immediate “meaningful presence” backed by four decades of local market knowledge. Founded in 1983, Priest Craven & Associates has built a massive portfolio including:
- Residential Developments: Single-family neighborhoods, townhomes, and mid-rise apartments.
- Commercial Real Estate: Office buildings and regional shopping centers.
- Core Services: Site planning, civil engineering, and specialized surveying.
The Priest Craven team will continue to operate from their Raleigh headquarters, which will now serve as the central North Carolina hub for PS&S.
Tommy Craven, co-founder of the Raleigh firm, emphasized that the deal provides his team with the resources of a larger organization without losing the local touch. “Our clients get the benefit of their current relationship with Priest Craven, coupled with the strength, stability, and capacity of PS&S,” Craven said.
