Dr. Jennifer Bush, a licensed clinical psychologist from Cooper University Hospital and Health System, is set to lead a key discussion on suicide prevention for older adults at the Rothkoff Law Group’s 8th Annual Elder Care Symposium Oct. 9. The event, held at Live! Philadelphia Casino and Hotel Event Center, will highlight “Trailblazers of the Industry” and focus on the theme of “Elder Care Reimagined.”
Bush’s presentation, titled “Redirecting Hopelessness: Mental Health Interventions and Suicide Prevention for Older Adults,” will provide caregivers and older adults with the tools and knowledge needed to improve their quality of life. Her work specializes in treatments for chronic trauma and emotion dysregulation, helping patients find joy and fight feelings of hopelessness, even in difficult situations.
“Sometimes there’s no fix, while there can still be meaning,” Bush said. “By helping older adults shift focus from pain to what they still value, we make room for hope, connection, and a life worth living, even in the midst of loss.”
As a clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Cooper University Hospital, Bush provides direct care for health-related mental health distress. Her expertise includes helping patients with chronic pain, post-medical intervention recovery, and end-of-life meaning-making. She also has extensive experience training mental health providers in underserved communities.
The symposium, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will also include breakout sessions and a Caregiver Award presentation. Continuing Education (CE) credits will be available for healthcare professionals. For registration and the full agenda, visit www.rothkoffsymposium.com.
