In a significant move for Midtown Manhattan’s commercial real estate market, JLL announced a new lease agreement for Epiq, a leader in legal and compliance services which has a heavy presence in New Jersey. The company is set to move its New York headquarters into a 17,850-square-foot space on a partial floor of the landmark 1166 Avenue of the Americas, a prominent 44-story skyscraper.
Epiq will be relocating from its previous location at 777 Third Avenue, taking over the partial 12th floor of the prestigious building. The new space is notable for its impressive 15 ½-foot ceiling heights.
The move comes as the building’s owner, Edward J. Minskoff Equities (EJME), prepares to open new tenant-exclusive amenities on the 12th floor this month. These additions include a lounge, café, and fitness center with lockers and showers, which will complement the existing 12,000-square-foot conference center already on the floor.
Located in the heart of Midtown, 1166 Avenue of the Americas offers exceptional access to a wide range of public transit options, including several MTA bus and subway lines. It is also a short distance from major transit hubs like Grand Central Station, Penn Station, and Port Authority, as well as being just steps away from Bryant Park.
A JLL team led by Matt Astrachan, Dan Turkewitz, Harrison Potter, and Nicole Tiger represented Epiq in the transaction. The landlord was represented by JLL’s Paul Glickman, Cynthia Wasserberger, Diana Biasotti, and Christine Colley, along with Jeffrey Sussman and Matthew Pynn of EJME.
According to Astrachan, Epiq was drawn to the property due to its “top-class amenities, committed ownership, proximity to transit, and the offerings of Midtown Manhattan.”
