In an effort to continue its support of oncology, cell and gene therapy, and patient sample storage, SciSafe opened a new biorepository facility in East Brunswick earlier this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
SciSafe CEO Garrie Richardson praised the progress going into the facility.
“This facility marks a major milestone for the incredible team that’s been with us through the years,” he said. “We started with two freezers and a dream, and today we’re supporting cutting-edge oncology research and much more, with a level of care and service that sets us apart. Our people made this possible.”
The 5 million cubic feet facility features:
- Over 500 cryogenic freezers (-196 to -150 degrees C).
- More than 1,500 ultra-low (-80 degrees C) temperature freezers.
- Precision cold chain logistics, from transport compliance expertise to real-time monitoring to custom shipping solutions.
- GMP warehousing capacity with more than 15,000 CRT pallet positions.
- Ample freezer and refrigeration storage.
- New warehouse management system and client portal
Choose New Jersey CEO Wes Mathews emphasized the state’s role in fostering innovation and business growth.
“SciSafe’s continued growth in New Jersey underscores the confidence that leading companies have in our state as a place to scale and succeed,” he said. “This new facility will support critical advances in life sciences research while creating opportunities and impact far beyond East Brunswick.”
The ribbon-cutting was attended by East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen, alongside Robert Zuckerman, the economic development officer with East Brunswick Assemblyman Sterley Stanley (D) was also in attendance. Various members of the East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce celebrated the new facility.
