Provident Bank awards $1M to ten N.J. nonprofits for neighborhood revitalization

Provident Bank on Wednesday announced it has awarded $1 million in grants to ten nonprofit organizations across the state. The funding, distributed through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (NRTC) Program, is earmarked for comprehensive revitalization efforts in distressed neighborhoods.

The NRTC program incentivizes corporate investment in community development by offering businesses a 100 percent tax credit against state tax obligations in exchange for funding state-approved, multi-year neighborhood revitalization plans.

The $1 million contribution will support a diverse range of initiatives, including housing development, economic stimulus, business incubation, and job training. The nonprofits will also utilize the funds for essential community services such as recreational programming, social support, and the enhancement of public open spaces.

“Provident Bank is proud to support these outstanding nonprofit organizations through the Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program,” Leonardo Ramos, first vice president and CRA officer at Provident Bank said. “These investments help strengthen neighborhoods, expand economic opportunity, and improve quality of life for residents across New Jersey. By partnering with organizations that are driving meaningful and lasting change, we are reinforcing our commitment to building stronger, more vibrant communities.”

The NRTC Program has served as a cornerstone for community development in New Jersey since 2002. By working with the DCA, which acts as the intermediary, organizations are able to turn corporate tax contributions into localized, actionable strategies that address the specific needs of their residents.
