The ShopRite of Livingston officially celebrated the grand opening of its newly expanded Kosher Market on Nov. 6, marking a significant milestone for kosher shoppers in the area. The ribbon-cutting ceremony included members of the Sumas family (Village Super Market), store management, and Rabbi Teichman from the Vaad of MetroWest.
The ambitious renovation has transformed the store into one of the most comprehensive kosher destinations in the region, boasting a product variety increase of over 50%. The redesign centralized all kosher departments—including Deli, Prepared Foods, Meat, Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Seafood—into one convenient, streamlined location.
“This expansion is an incredible moment for Livingston,” Nico Sumas, president of Village Super Market said. “Our goal was to create a destination that delivers unmatched convenience, variety and value — making it easier than ever for local shoppers to find all their kosher needs in one place.”
The remodeled space offers vastly enhanced selections across all categories:
- Kosher Grocery (Aisle 16): The grocery aisle has more than doubled in size, expanding from 65 feet to over 150 feet. This provides customers with 53% more choices, increasing the total item count from 800 to over 1,500.
- Kosher Meat: Shoppers can choose from over 30 varieties of freshly cut beef, lamb, and veal, prepared daily by in-store butchers. The store also accommodates custom cuts for briskets, ribs, and turkeys.
- Kosher Deli & Prepared Foods: The Shuk Kosher Kitchen now offers over 100 freshly made items, including popular favorites like pulled kosher rotisserie chicken, Gabila’s knishes, matzo ball soup, and kugel. The section also features 10 varieties of freshly rolled sushi daily.
- Kosher Dairy: The dairy selection has been significantly boosted with over 80 new items, including cheeses, herrings, spreads, and desserts.
- Kosher Frozen (Aisle 15): All frozen items, such as blintzes, gefilte fish, kosher pizzas, and desserts, are now conveniently located in one spot.
- Kosher Seafood: The market offers premium, certified selections sourced from the cleanest waters, including Faroe Island salmon and Atlantic flounder.
The store’s Shuk Kosher Kitchen also offers Kosher Catering for special events, ensuring a complete shopping and dining solution for the community.
