Joshua Kalafer, a prominent Somerset County entrepreneur, has been appointed chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Somerset Health Care Foundation, the dedicated fundraising arm of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset, an RWJBarnabas Health facility.
Kalafer, who is the owner of Land Rover Princeton, co-owner of Clinton Honda, and co-owner/co-chairman of the Somerset Patriots (the Double AA affiliate of the New York Yankees), steps into the leadership role after serving on the board since 2021 and as co-vice chair since 2023.
The appointment continues a deep-rooted commitment to the hospital by the Kalafer family, who have donated more than $3.5 million to RWJUH Somerset. Joshua’s late father, Steve Kalafer (1949-2021), served as Chairman Emeritus and spearheaded numerous successful fundraising campaigns over two decades. Earlier this year, RWJUH Somerset honored the family’s generosity by dedicating its new Rapid Decision Unit in their name.
Joshua Kalafer has personally demonstrated his commitment through his role as chair of the Somerset Health Care Foundation Golf Outing since 2013, an event that has successfully raised over $2 million to support vital programs and services at the hospital.

Kalafer’s business background, which includes previous ownership of the Flemington Car and Truck Country Family of Dealerships, combined with his extensive board service—including positions with New Jersey Manufacturer’s Insurance Company and The Pingry School—is expected to provide strong strategic guidance to the Foundation.
