Optimum unveils $40M fiber investment to bring ultra-fast 8 gig internet to more N.J. communities

Optimum on Monday announced a major network expansion in New Jersey, committing an additional $40 million to deploy its award-winning 100% fiber-to-the-home network across key communities in the state. This investment builds upon the nearly $200 million the company has poured into its local internet network and infrastructure over the past two years, solidifying its commitment to being a premier connectivity provider in the Garden State.

Thousands of residents and businesses in Woodbridge, Clark and Linden are beginning to gain access to Optimum’s full suite of services, headlined by symmetrical Fiber Internet speeds of up to 8 Gig, which Ookla® Speedtest® has recognized as the fastest and most reliable internet in the state.

The fiber network expansion will soon extend to Winfield, Rahway and Roselle, with planned deployment also announced for Carteret and Perth Amboy, where services are expected to launch by Spring 2026.

Local leaders praised the significant infrastructure upgrade. Woodbridge Township Mayor John McCormac welcomed the investment, emphasizing its potential for community growth.

“Woodbridge Township welcomes Optimum’s fiber internet investment to the community offering our residents and businesses the opportunity to explore state-of-the-art connectivity options,” McCormac said. “The company’s significant investments signal greater economic growth, educational opportunities, and innovation to our Ten Towns. We appreciate Optimum’s commitment to supporting our community’s future…”

Elton Hart, vice president and general manager of Optimum Tri-State, echoed the focus on long-term partnership. “Our commitment goes beyond delivering the fastest, most reliable internet; it’s about empowering local residents and businesses with the technology and support they need to thrive, today and for years to come,” he stated.

The investment comes as consumer internet usage continues to climb. A recent study by Optimum highlighted that Americans now average more than 10 hours online a day—equating to 41% of their day connected to the internet. The new symmetrical multi-gigabit speeds (up to 8 Gig) provided by Optimum Fiber are designed to support the most data-intensive applications, such as video production, graphic design and competitive gaming.

In addition to fiber internet, new customers in the expanded areas will have access to:

  • Optimum Mobile: Delivered over America’s largest 5G network.

  • Optimum Stream: A video and entertainment experience combining live TV with streaming apps from the Google Play Store.

Optimum currently serves more than 200 communities across New Jersey and employs thousands of teammates and partners throughout the state, maintaining a strong retail presence for customer care and sales support.
