Jaclynn McDonnell, a highly respected member of the Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights Practice at Genova Burns, has been elevated to Counsel, the firm announced Monday.
Newly named Managing Partner Jennifer Borek said the title is in recognition of McDonnell’s exceptional legal work, leadership within the firm and sustained commitment to community service.
“Jaclynn’s elevation to Counsel reflects not only her legal skill and professionalism, but also the leadership and heart she brings to our firm,” Borek said. “She sets an example through her advocacy for clients, her mentorship of colleagues, and her dedication to giving back.”
In the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights Practice, McDonnell represents a wide range of clients in complex bankruptcy proceedings, workouts and insolvency-related matters. Her practice spans the full spectrum of Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases in federal bankruptcy courts, with a particular focus on high-stakes commercial bankruptcies and asset-recovery matters.
McDonnell regularly represents bankruptcy trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, creditor committees, lenders, and other fiduciaries.
Known for her diligence, strategic insight, and client-focused approach, McDonnell has earned a reputation for delivering thoughtful, results-driven solutions in matters involving significant financial exposure and operational complexity.
Borek said McDonnell’s promotion underscores Genova Burns’ ongoing commitment to recognizing talent, fostering leadership, and supporting attorneys who make meaningful contributions — both in their legal practice and in the broader community.
Beyond her legal practice, McDonnell has emerged as a leader within Genova Burns’ firm culture and community outreach efforts.
A mother of two, she exemplifies the balance of professional excellence and personal commitment, while serving as a driving force behind the firm’s charitable initiatives. She has been at the forefront of Genova Burns’ annual Thanksgiving drive supporting Newark Public Schools, coordinated holiday gift donations for the Salvation Army, and is spearheading a new firmwide initiative focused on promoting literacy and access to reading resources in underserved communities.
“We are proud to recognize her contributions and excited to see her continue to grow in this role,” Borek said.
