Provident Bank CFO Thomas Lyons to retire after ‘long, successful career’

Provident Bank announced on Wednesday that Thomas Lyons will retire as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. His retirement is scheduled for the earlier of June 30, or the appointment of a qualified successor.

To ensure a smooth transition, the bank has launched a nationwide search for a new CFO and has engaged an executive search firm to assist. Lyons will remain in his current roles until a successor is named, after which he will serve as a special advisor to the president and CEO through Jan. 31, 2027.

Lyons’ tenure as CFO, which began in 2011, has been defined by a massive scale-up of the bank’s operations. Having joined Provident through its merger with First Savings Bank in 2004, Lyons has been a steady hand at the financial helm for over 17 years.

During his time with the institution, Provident Bank transformed from a $6 billion regional player into a dominant financial powerhouse with nearly $25 billion in assets, serving clients across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Anthony Labozzetta, president & CEO of Provident Bank, lauded Lyons’ strategic contributions and his role in establishing the bank’s strong fiscal foundation.

“Tom’s commitment to delivering top-tier financial performance and creating long-term shareholder value has been an integral part of our journey,” Labozzetta said. “He leaves a long-lasting positive impact on our company, team members, and shareholders.”

For his part, Lyons expressed gratitude for his time at the bank, citing the “talented and dedicated team” he worked with during his 17-year tenure as CFO.

“Together, we have realized significant accomplishments, navigated numerous challenges, and built a strong foundation for the future,” Lyons stated. “Provident is well-positioned to continue generating sustainable, profitable growth.”
