The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey has expanded its Lawyers Advisory Committee (LAC) with the appointment of Eric Moran, a prominent shareholder in the Litigation Practice of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
Effective Feb. 2, Moran’s term will run through Jan. 31, 2027. He joins a select group of legal professionals tasked with shaping the procedural landscape of one of the nation’s busiest federal districts.
Established in 1983, the Lawyers Advisory Committee serves as a vital bridge between the federal judiciary and the legal community. Its primary responsibilities include:
-
Rule Development: Reviewing and revising Local Rules to ensure they remain effective and modern.
-
Operational Oversight: Advising the Board of Judges on court practices and administrative procedures.
-
Justice Advocacy: Supporting the court in administering justice in a fair and impartial manner.
Moran’s appointment brings significant trial experience to the committee. A former Assistant U.S. Attorney for a decade, Moran previously served as the co-chief of the Criminal Division in New Jersey. His current practice at Greenberg Traurig focuses on complex white-collar defense, securities fraud, and False Claims Act litigation.
Moran is not the only Greenberg Traurig representative on the committee. He joins fellow shareholders Philip Sellinger—the firm’s Global Litigation co-chair and former U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey—and Kevin Walsh.
