Nordstrom Rack to anchor revitalized Brunswick Square in East Brunswick

Nordstrom, Inc. announced Thursday that it will open a new Nordstrom Rack at the revitalized Brunswick Square in fall 2026. The 27,000-square-foot store marks a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the historic Middlesex County shopping destination from an enclosed mall into a modern, open-air “town center.”

The new location will be situated at the high-traffic corner of Route 18 and Rues Lane, joining a curated lineup of national retailers including J. Crew, Barnes & Noble, and PGA Tour Superstore, alongside entertainment staples like AMC Theatres.

Gemma Lionello, President of Nordstrom Rack, emphasized that the East Brunswick store is designed for the modern, “interconnected” shopper. Customers will have access to:

  • Off-Price Luxury: Up to 70% off top brands across apparel, beauty, home decor, and shoes.
  • Omnichannel Services: Seamless online order pickup for both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com.
  • Hassle-Free Returns: Easy in-store returns for all Nordstrom and Rack digital purchases.

“We’re excited to grow our footprint in the greater New York market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience,” said Lionello.

The announcement comes as Paramount Realty and Edgewood Properties move forward with a massive redevelopment of Brunswick Square. The project, which broke ground in December 2025, is converting the 1970s-era indoor mall into a pedestrian-friendly destination.

“Nordstrom Rack’s commitment to quality aligns perfectly with the new energy and direction of Brunswick Square,” said Maurice Zekaria, CEO and President of Paramount Realty. “They are a terrific addition to the merchandising mix we’re building.”

In addition to retail, the redeveloped site is slated to include Hackensack Meridian Health medical offices, recreational venues like The Picklr (pickleball), and upscale dining options, effectively turning the property into a community hub.

The East Brunswick opening will expand Nordstrom’s significant presence in New Jersey. The company currently operates:

  • 4 Full-Line Nordstrom Stores
  • 9 Nordstrom Rack Locations
  • 1,500+ Local Jobs

By opening Nordstrom Rack—often the company’s largest source of new customer acquisition—Nordstrom is betting on the long-term economic growth of the East Brunswick area.
