ShopRite of Wyckoff and Cheez-It donate $10K to Bergen County educators

In a colorful celebration featuring the “Ched-Z” mascot, the ShopRite of Wyckoff and Cheez-It officially teamed up today to award $10,000 to local educators as part of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation’s “Extra Yard for Teachers” initiative.

The event, hosted by the Inserra family—owners and operators of the Wyckoff supermarket—recognized teachers and administrators from Henry P. Becton Regional High School and Teaneck Public Schools. The donation is designed to provide teachers with the essential tools and resources needed to inspire the next generation of New Jersey students.

The donation is part of a larger national commitment by Kellanova (the parent company of Cheez-It). Now in its third year, the partnership between Cheez-It and the CFP Foundation has become a powerhouse for educational philanthropy.

National Impact of the Program (Since 2023):

  • Total Donated: $550,000
  • Teachers Impacted: 948
  • Schools Supported: 597
  • Students Impacted: 188,000

The Wyckoff presentation is one of five total donations being distributed at ShopRite locations across the region, ensuring that multiple North Jersey communities benefit from the campaign.

The Inserra family and ShopRite associates were joined by representatives from Wakefern Food Corp. and Kellanova to hand over the $10,000 check. Following the ceremony, shoppers at the Wyckoff location were treated to samplings and giveaways to celebrate the investment in local schools.

“ShopRite of Wyckoff and Cheez-It are giving back to educators who have continuously stepped up for their students,” a spokesperson noted during the event.

  • ShopRite: Headquartered in Keasbey, ShopRite is the largest supermarket cooperative in the U.S. and has a long history of community giving, including $65 million donated through its “Partners In Caring” program.

  • Kellanova: A global snacking leader, Kellanova’s “Better Days” initiative aims to create sustainable and equitable food access for 4 billion people by 2030.

  • CFP Foundation: The “Extra Yard for Teachers” program was recently recognized as a finalist for the ESPN 2025 Corporate Community Impact Award.

By specifically targeting Teaneck and Becton Regional educators, the grant helps bridge the gap for classroom supplies and innovative teaching aids that are often funded out-of-pocket by staff.

The $10,000 injection serves as a “thank you” to the professionals who form the backbone of Wyckoff’s neighboring communities, reinforcing the strong ties between New Jersey’s corporate leaders and its public institutions.
