Allendale Rehab & Healthcare debuts million-dollar modernization and new subacute leadership

Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center officially ushered in a new era of skilled nursing care this week, celebrating a “Grand Reopening” to showcase a top-to-bottom million-dollar renovation. The Bergen County facility’s transformation features a specialized subacute wing and a high-tech therapy gym designed to bridge the gap between hospital stays and returning home.

The milestone event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Allendale Mayor Amy Wilczynski and members of the Borough Council, joined by health care partners and leadership from Marquis Health Consulting Services.

The centerpiece of the renovation is the dedicated subacute care wing, tailored for patients recovering from complex surgeries, injuries, or acute illnesses. The wing is anchored by an expansive rehab therapy gym that prioritizes both technology and environment, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the center’s park-like campus.

A standout feature of the new gym is the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) suite. This specialized space mimics a real-home environment—complete with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom—allowing patients to practice essential life skills in a safe, clinical setting before being discharged.

To coincide with the physical upgrades, Allendale has appointed Dr. Neil Javed as the new Subacute Medical Director. Javed, a board-certified hospitalist affiliated with Valley Hospital, will oversee the clinical direction of the new wing.

“The new wing is just gorgeous,” Christina Albano, regional director of market development at Marquis said. “This modernization supports next-level skilled nursing services, and the Allendale team is pleased to welcome Dr. Javed in this new leadership role. They are working hand-in-hand to provide transformative care.”

The 299-bed facility at 85 Harreton Road is no stranger to high standards; it currently maintains a Five-Star Quality Measures rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and holds accreditation from The Joint Commission.

The Allendale campus is uniquely positioned as a “continuum of care” hub, sharing its grounds with Allendale Senior Living, an assisted living community. This allows for a seamless transition for seniors whose needs may evolve over time.
