PSEG sweeps national rankings for community impact and corporate responsibility

New Jersey’s largest utility provider is making waves on the national stage. Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) on Tuesday announced it has secured three major national distinctions, solidifying its reputation as a leader in corporate citizenship, charity, and industry-wide responsibility for 2026.

The Newark-based energy giant was named the 2026 Industry Leader for Utilities by JUST Capital and broke into the top 10 of Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies, ranking ninth out of 600 organizations evaluated nationwide.

The top spot in JUST Capital’s annual rankings highlights PSEG’s performance across critical sectors including worker treatment, customer service, and environmental stewardship. The utility performed exceptionally well in categories that hit close to home for New Jersey residents: career development, local business opportunities, and human rights.

“We take our responsibility as ‘public service’ very seriously,” Rick Thigpen, PSEG senior vice president for Corporate Citizenship said. “Working to make the communities we serve better places to live continues to be central to our business strategy.”

Ranking No. 9 on Newsweek’s “Most Responsible Companies” list, PSEG was recognized for its long-term commitment to sustainability and workforce benefits. A key driver for this recognition was the company’s Gas System Modernization Program.

Further cementing its status as a community pillar, PSEG was also honored as one of America’s Most Charitable Companies. The numbers behind the accolade are significant:

  • Financial Impact: The PSEG Foundation has awarded nearly $138 million over the last 25 years.
  • Recent Giving: In 2025 alone, PSE&G and the PSEG Foundation contributed $12.8 million to organizations within their service territory.
  • Employee Dedication: Last year, approximately 2,300 PSEG employees volunteered 15,000 hours to local community causes.

As PSEG continues to manage its fleet of carbon-free nuclear power units and its massive distribution network, these awards underscore a strategy that balances operational excellence with a “people-first” philosophy. For New Jerseyans, it’s a sign that their utility provider is doing more than just keeping the lights on—it’s invested in the neighborhood.
