GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a prominent multi-disciplinary firm specializing in geotechnical and environmental services, announced today the appointment of Edward (Ed) Huss as associate principal and vice president.
Based out of GZA’s Fairfield office, Huss will lead the firm’s environmental assessment and remediation practice, significantly bolstering its presence in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Huss joins GZA with nearly 30 years of experience in the design and management of complex remediation projects. As a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) in New Jersey and a licensed Professional Engineer, he is uniquely qualified to navigate the state’s rigorous environmental regulatory landscape.
Huss is widely recognized for his expertise in advanced in situ (on-site) technologies, which allow for the treatment of contaminants without the need for massive soil excavation. His specialties include:
- Bioremediation: Utilizing biological agents to break down pollutants.
- Chemical Oxidation & Reduction (ISCO/ISCR): Using chemical reactions to neutralize hazardous substances.
- Stabilization/Solidification (ISS): Techniques to “lock” contaminants in place to prevent spreading.
GZA President and CEO Patrick Sheehan emphasized that Huss’s appointment is a strategic move to reinforce one of the firm’s core service areas in the New Jersey and Mid-Atlantic markets.
“Between Ed’s extensive experience implementing a wide range of environmental remediation technologies and his deep network of relationships with remediation experts throughout the region, Ed adds tremendous strength to GZA,” Sheehan said.
Throughout his career, Huss has successfully managed remediation at high-stakes locations, including Superfund and RCRA sites, fuel terminals, and industrial properties impacted by chromium, plastics molding, and chemical releases. His work spans New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, with a consistent focus on developing cost-effective solutions for complex environmental challenges.
Huss holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida. His arrival in Fairfield marks a continued investment by GZA in providing high-level technical expertise to New Jersey’s public and private sectors.
