Archer & Greiner strengthens environmental practice with addition of partner Alice Shanahan

Archer & Greiner P.C. continues the strategic expansion of its northern New Jersey presence with the appointment of Alice Shanahan as a partner in the firm’s Environmental Law Practice Group. Based in the Hackensack office, Shanahan’s arrival bolsters the firm’s capabilities in handling high-stakes environmental matters across the New Jersey and New York markets.

With over 20 years of experience, Shanahan is a recognized authority in navigating the intersection of environmental regulation, large-scale redevelopment, and complex transactions. Her practice focuses on representing Fortune 500 energy, oil and gas, and chemical companies through the intricacies of liability management and the remediation of contaminated sites.

Notably, Shanahan previously served on secondment as environmental counsel for a Fortune 50 petroleum company, where she managed regional compliance and risk. Her expertise encompasses:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigating state and federal environmental standards.
  • Transactional Due Diligence: Assessing environmental risks in corporate and real estate deals.
  • Site Remediation: Overseeing the investigation and redevelopment of impacted properties.

The addition of Shanahan reinforces Archer’s Environmental Law Group, which currently boasts a robust team of more than 20 attorneys. Firm leadership views her hiring as a natural fit, given her history of collaborating with Archer attorneys on mutual client matters over the years.

“Alice brings a wealth of environmental regulatory and transactional experience in complex matters and will fit seamlessly into our practice,” Marc Rollo, president of Archer and Chair of the Environmental Law Group said. “Her experience representing some of the same longstanding clients as Archer further reinforces that foundation.”

Shanahan, who joins the firm from Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A., expressed that the move was motivated by Archer’s reputation and the depth of its specialized legal talent.

“I was drawn to Archer because of its deep bench of highly regarded environmental attorneys,” Shanahan stated. “Having worked alongside Archer attorneys periodically throughout my career, I have long admired the firm’s work and its strong client relationships. I look forward to building further on those connections together.”
