Devils to retire the ‘Jersey’ jersey during fan appreciation finale in Newark

The New Jersey Devils are preparing for an emotional send-off to the 2025-26 regular season. The team announced Thursday that Jersey Appreciation Night will take place on April 12 as the Devils face off against the Ottawa Senators in their final home game at the Prudential Center.

The evening will serve as a dual celebration: honoring the loyalty of the Devils’ fan base and bidding a final farewell to the team’s polarizing yet popular black alternate sweater—the “Jersey” jersey—which is set to be retired at the conclusion of this season.

The “Jersey” jersey, famous for its literal script crest, has been a staple of the team’s branding since its debut in 2021. To mark its final appearance:

  • The First 9,000 Fans: Will receive a commemorative “fan” shirt honoring the jersey’s tenure.
  • Exclusive discounts: The Devils Den Team Store will offer 40% off “Jersey” jerseys and select apparel.
  • Final farewell ceremony: During the first period, the arena will go dark for a video montage of the jersey’s history, accompanied by a live guitar performance from the mascot, NJ Devil.

Celebrations begin early at Championship Plaza starting at 4:00 PM. The pre-game Fan Fest will feature:

  • Live entertainment: Music from Sean Patrick & the Alibis and an appearance by “NJ’s Ride,” a mobile esports experience.
  • Local flavor: Food from Shore Good Eats, winner of the 2025 Devils Enrich program, alongside samplings from Goya and Athletic Brewing.
  • Verizon screen-printing: A live activation where fans can choose from four exclusive t-shirt designs.

Inside the arena, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (a result of a fan vote via the “Deal with the Devils”) and participate in a virtual “hat” hat toss during the second intermission.

The highlight for many season ticket holders will occur post-game. In a long-standing tradition, select Black and Red Members will be invited onto the ice to receive game-worn jerseys directly from the players.

Additionally, specialty signed “Player” and “Mascot” jerseys inspired by the third jersey design will be auctioned online from April 12 through April 19, with proceeds benefiting the Devils Care Foundation.

Tickets for the home finale are currently available via Ticketmaster and the Devils’ official website.
