Whippany’s MetLife originates $26B in private fixed income transactions

Whippany-based MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, announced that it originated approximately $26 billion in private fixed income transactions for clients in 2025, increasing total assets under management on MIM’s private fixed income platform to $144.7 billion as of the year’s end.

MIM’s private fixed income platform comprises private corporate and infrastructure debt, private asset-based finance (ABF), residential whole loans, single-family rental financing, and sustainable and transition finance.

Its diversified platform includes $8.9 billion in residential credit; $6.8 billion in corporate debt; $5.7 billion in infrastructure debt; and $4.5 billion in asset-based finance transactions.

There was strong value in residential credit in 2025, as MIM deployed $8.9 billion and reinforced its leadership in origination and portfolio management of residential loans and single-family rental debt.

Its corporate private placement activity totaled $6.8 billion across a broad range of industries, with more than 40% of investments were sourced through proprietary channels across the broadly syndicated market and direct, relationship-driven channel.

It originated $5.7 billion in infrastructure transactions, including renewables and digital as well as core infrastructure assets such as transportation and essential utilities. More than half of these investments were made internationally.

It achieved strong growth in private asset-based finance, originating $4.5 billion across commercial and consumer assets.

Earlier this month, MetLife Investment Management (MIM) appointed Andrea Drasites as the firm’s Global Head of Real Estate and Agricultural Finance, effective Oct. 1.

Reporting to MIM President Brian Funk, Drasites will oversee one of the most formidable investment portfolios in the industry. As of late 2025, MIM’s real estate and agricultural assets under management (AUM) totaled approximately $108.9 billion.
