Provident Bank strengthens asset-based lending unit with appointment of Bruce Gibson

Provident Bank, New Jersey’s oldest community-focused financial institution, announced Tuesday the expansion of its Asset-Based Lending (ABL) team with the appointment of Bruce Gibson as first vice president and senior relationship manager.

The strategic hire signals Provident’s commitment to growing its ABL platform across the Northeast, specifically targeting middle-market transactions and complex financing needs.

Gibson joins Provident Bank with nearly 40 years of experience in the asset-based lending sector. His background includes a significant track record of sourcing and closing transactions for private equity sponsors, advisors, and business owners.

In his new role, Gibson will lead deal origination, underwriting, and loan structuring. He will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex ABL relationships, helping Northeast-based businesses leverage their assets to secure growth capital.

“Provident Bank has built a strong ABL platform, and I’m looking forward to contributing to its continued growth,” Gibson said. “Having worked across a wide range of transactions, I have a deep appreciation for what clients need from a lending partner.”

The appointment is a key move for Provident as it seeks to position itself as a premier lender in the competitive New York and New Jersey markets. Gibson’s extensive network and history of driving portfolio growth at institutions like Webster Business Credit, IDB Bank, Capital One, and Sterling National Bank provide the bank with high-level business development capabilities.

“Bruce brings deep expertise across the full ABL lifecycle,” Kenneth Kaestner, director and ABL Group Head said. “His relationships in the New York and New Jersey markets will be instrumental as we continue to build momentum, becoming the lender of choice for ABL solutions in the markets we serve.”
