As the workplace evolves under the rapid influence of artificial intelligence and automation, the historic Bell Works “metroburb” is opening its doors to help New Jersey’s emerging professionals navigate the shifting landscape.
On Friday, May 15, Bell Works will host its Annual Career Day in the iconic Atrium. Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event aims to connect job seekers and students with nearly 20 diverse companies ranging from global engineering firms to innovative tech startups.

The centerpiece of the day is a high-profile panel discussion titled “Beyond the Resume: Human Skills in a Digital World,” taking place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Moderated by Jamie Sztoser and Marissa Klein of The Dreamcatchers, the talk will pivot away from traditional “hustle culture” to address what truly makes a candidate stand out in 2026.
As technical tasks become increasingly automated, the panel will highlight the growing premium on “human-only” qualities:
- Empathy & Communication: Building authentic connections in a remote-heavy world.
- Adaptability: Navigating career pivots and industry uncertainty.
- Sustainable Success: Prioritizing mental health, boundaries, and long-term career flexibility.
The panel features a mix of veteran industry leaders and emerging voices, including Brian Sardo of IFF, Ellie Reda of Stratford Solutions, Nick Frank of Litera, and Monmouth University student Emily Strom.
Participants will have the chance to interface with recruiters from a broad spectrum of industries, reflecting the diverse tenant base of the 2-million-square-foot Eero Saarinen-designed campus. Participating companies include:
- Engineering & Tech: Colliers Engineering & Design, The Data Pros, AerPay.
- Legal & Finance: Litera, Fleischner Potash LLP, Northeast Financial Network.
- Local Government: Monmouth County Human Resources.
- Lifestyle & Construction: Oasis VRX, Soluna Fitness, Victory Home Remodeling Group.
Hosting the event at Bell Works provides a symbolic backdrop for a career day focused on the future of work. Once the site of the legendary Bell Labs—where AT&T developed the commercial cellular network—the building has been revitalized into the nation’s first “metroburb.”
Today, it functions as a self-contained metropolis in suburbia, housing traditional offices alongside a blossoming ecosystem of retail, dining, and technology.
“Technical skills alone are no longer enough,” the event organizers stated, emphasizing that the Career Day is designed specifically for students and emerging professionals to gain the confidence and networking tools needed in a world where the definition of “work” is constantly shifting.
