DIG Architecture unveils bold rebrand and ‘Groundbreaking’ vision at 20th Anniversary milestone event

DIGroup Architecture, recognized as New Jersey’s largest Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) architectural firm, has officially rebranded as DIG Architecture.

The firm announced its new corporate identity, visual branding, and strategic narrative before an audience of clients, industry partners, and staff during its 20th Anniversary Appreciation Event held at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club. The milestone transition introduces an updated brand voice and the launch of the firm’s new tagline: “We are DIG Architecture. And we are Groundbreaking.”

Central to the corporate rebrand is a highly stylized, custom icon that embeds the firm’s acronym directly into a piece of foundational field equipment: a shovel.

The new brand asset is designed to symbolize both the physical act of site excavation and the firm’s literal philosophy of “digging in” to complex urban and community-focused project assignments.

The firm’s evolution traces back to its origins as NJK–12 Architects—a unique, collaborative alliance of five competing architectural practices formed to handle institutional assignments during New Jersey’s historic Abbott District school improvement campaign. Following that successful multi-firm collaboration, four of those entities formally merged to create Design Ideas Group Architecture.

Over the past 20 years, the firm utilized its foundational urban public school portfolio to diversify its studio offerings into multiple core commercial real estate and civic sectors across the Mid-Atlantic.

Today, DIG Architecture operates a network of regional offices across New Jersey, Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, and Queens, New York. Its specialized studio portfolios encompass:

  • Education Architecture: PK-12 public academies, early childhood learning facilities, and higher education campus infrastructure.

  • Civic & Infrastructure: Municipal facilities, community centers, urban public spaces, and regional airport terminals.

  • Health care & Senior living: Specialized clinical environments, acute care retrofits, and modern senior living communities.

According to executive leadership, the bold visual and textual update matches an internal culture characterized by professional confidence and directness, moving past standard design trends to focus on purpose-built, transformative environments.

“At DIG Architecture, we have always been inspired by the world around us and the people we serve,” Jeff Venezia, CEO and co-founding principal, said. “This rebrand is a celebration of our past and a bold vision for our future. We are groundbreakers who share possibility through design, creating opportunities out of steel and concrete to build futures, communities, and hope.”

As New Jersey’s leading MBE architecture firm, the brand rollout also initiates a renewed corporate commitment to institutional mentorship, internal diversity initiatives, and creating career pathways into the broader architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professions for traditionally underrepresented groups.

“Every project we touch is a transformation; every space we design is a chance to change a life,” noted Vince Myers, president and co-founding principal. “This new identity empowers our team to continue using creative, uplifting design to solve complex challenges for our diverse communities.”

Rich Alderiso, COO and co-founding principal, added that the anniversary serves as a strategic launching pad. “Our 20th anniversary is the perfect moment to roll up our sleeves and define what the next 20 years will look like,” Alderiso stated.

The firm’s updated digital presence, project portfolios, and new brand guidelines are now live across its interactive regional platforms.
