Scott Fisher joins Lowenstein Sandler as partner, strengthening M&A and Capital Markets Practices

Lowenstein Sandler LLP announced that veteran corporate attorney Scott Fisher joined the firm as a partner in its New York City office. Fisher will integrate into the firm’s Transactions & Advisory Group, specifically aligning with the Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Markets & Securities practices.

A former partner at Steptoe, Fisher brings more than 25 years of experience advising corporate clients, private equity funds, investment banks, and underwriters. His extensive background spans the complete lifecycle of public and private offerings of debt and equity, cross-border deals, joint ventures, and complex corporate governance matters in highly regulated industries.

The acquisition marks Lowenstein’s second major high-profile lateral partner hire in New York City this month, following the arrival of M&A partner Ivan Presant from Mintz on May 9.

Fisher’s recruitment directly supports the firm’s long-term expansion blueprint, according to firm leadership.

“Lowenstein’s Vision 2030 Strategic Plan is focused on expanding our platform in ways that align with evolving client needs,” Jonathan Wishnia, Lowenstein’s managing partner said. “Adding Scott to our Capital Markets and M&A groups accomplishes precisely that: reinforcing two practices that are already cornerstones of the firm, while positioning us to capture additional market share among middle-market investment banks and sponsors who need sophisticated attention on their most complex transactions.”

Practice leaders noted that Fisher’s distinct skill set will allow the firm to broaden its capital-raising advisory services. Steven Skolnick, chair of the Capital Markets & Securities practice, highlighted that Fisher will deepen the firm’s securities law bench across an array of financial mechanisms—including Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), Registered Direct Offerings (RDOs), Private Investments in Public Equity (PIPEs), and Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs).

Fisher’s practice frequently guides private equity funds from initial asset acquisition through to final exit strategies. Moving his book of business to Lowenstein will enable him to tap into the firm’s broader, market-leading corporate ecosystem.

“I’ve been watching the firm for a few years, and it is obvious that Lowenstein is ascendant,” Fisher said. “It’s broad-based transactional platform will enable me to deliver a full range of services to clients while also allowing me to expand my underwriter representations. I’m excited to collaborate across the firm’s corporate practices, including its market-leading venture practice.”

Jeffrey Shapiro, chair of the Transactions & Advisory Group, emphasized that the dual addition of Fisher and Presant provides a major boost to Lowenstein’s international transactional momentum. “Scott’s unique capabilities across both mergers and acquisitions and capital markets matters… further strengthen the momentum we are seeing across Lowenstein’s transactional practices and enhance our cross-border capabilities,” Shapiro stated.

Before entering private practice, Fisher served as a federal judicial law clerk for the Hon. Raymond J. Dearie of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Yale University.
