We’re going to assume the start date has nothing to do with Halloween, but … if you
want to get away and avoid that night of both revelry and ruckus, United Airlines will
begin operating its newest non-stop trip to an island hot spot with its first flight to St.
Croix on Oct. 31.
The Saturday-only service gives travelers a new way to reach one of the Caribbean’s
most under-the-radar destinations. Notably, United will be the only airline offering non-
stop service to St. Croix from the region.
The new route also complements United’s existing Newark–St. Thomas service,
expanding access to the U.S. Virgin Islands and giving travelers more flexibility when
planning island-hopping itineraries. It also expands United’s Caribbean network to 23
destinations — more than any other carrier in the region.
“We’re proud to offer customers the only nonstop service option in the Newark/New
York area to St. Croix,” said Tom Kozlowski, senior manager of Latin & Hawaii Network
Planning at United Airlines. “Whether customers are planning a winter escape or
reconnecting with family and friends, this new route gives travelers the perfect blend of
beautiful beaches, island charm, and rich culture in one of the Caribbean’s most unique
destinations.”
The flight departs Newark at 9:03 a.m., landing in St. Croix at 1:20 p.m. No passport
required, no customs to navigate.
The return non-stop, also on Saturday, leaves at 2:25 p.m. and gets into Newark at 6:58
p.m.
Tickets start at $339 in economy, $497 for economy plus, and $739 for business class.
To be clear, a Halloween costume is not required on the initial flight — but feel free to
dress up as an overworked New Jerseyan in need of an island break.
