Steven Denholtz honored with Monmouth University Kislak Real Estate Institute Leadership Excellence Award

Steven Denholtz, chairman of Red Bank-based investment management firm Denholtz, has received the 2026 Leadership Excellence Award from Monmouth University’s Kislak Real Estate Institute. The honor was presented during the Institute’s 30th Annual Leadership Excellence Awards Dinner on May 28 at the Great Hall at Monmouth University.

The annual Leadership Excellence Award recognizes individuals who have left a lasting impact on the commercial real estate industry throughout their careers. Honorees are selected based on their exceptional leadership, professional milestones, and an enduring commitment to mentoring future industry leaders.

“This recognition from the Kislak Institute is among the highest honors of my career, and I am thankful for the many team members and partners whose work has contributed to this achievement,” Denholtz said. “The Kislak Institute has played a vital role in shaping the future of the commercial real estate industry since its inception, and it’s truly been a privilege to support their mission.”

Denholtz has established himself as one of the most influential figures in New Jersey’s commercial real estate sector over the last 40 years. After stepping into the role of CEO at Denholtz in 1983, he spearheaded the firm’s strategic evolution, diversification, and geographical expansion.

Under his direction, the privately held firm grew beyond its legacy New Jersey footprint into premier high-growth regions across the United States. Today, the company commands a portfolio valued at more than $2 billion, encompassing nearly eight million square feet of multi-tenant industrial, residential, retail, office, and mixed-use properties.

In tandem with his executive responsibilities, Denholtz maintains an active profile in regional community and civic leadership. He serves as a board member for the Monmouth Conservation Foundation—a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting open space, farmland, and natural habitats across Monmouth County.

Additionally, Denholtz has lent his professional expertise to various influential regional bodies, including:

  • The Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations
  • The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA)
  • The Count Basie Center for the Arts

Denholtz also maintains a direct connection to the university itself, having previously served as an adjunct professor for the Kislak Real Estate Institute, helping shape the next generation of real estate practitioners.
