Bayer overhauls consumer health leadership to drive global growth

Whippany-based pharmaceuticals and life sciences giant Bayer on Monday announced a comprehensive sweep of leadership appointments within its Consumer Health division. The restructuring is aimed at accelerating global growth, sharpening commercial execution, and streamlining executive decision-making.

According to the company, the changes are a direct effort to advance its overarching “Road to Billions” strategy, a corporate initiative focused on expanding access to self-care solutions worldwide.

The organizational shake-up introduces new global heads across marketing, commercial operations, and data analytics, alongside fresh leadership for the United States—Bayer’s single largest consumer health market.

The strategic appointments include:

  • Samantha Avivi joins the global Consumer Health Leadership Team as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Operating out of Whippany, New Jersey, Avivi will oversee global brand building, marketing, and consumer strategy.

  • Analia de la Fuente has been named global Chief Data Officer (CDO). Based in Basel, Switzerland, she will lead global insights and analytics, focusing heavily on expanding the division’s data-driven capabilities and artificial intelligence integration.

  • David Tomasi transitions into the role of global Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to manage worldwide commercial operations and business performance. Tomasi previously served as the head of the U.S. division.
  • Trevor Thrun steps up as the new President of U.S. Consumer Health, taking over the company’s most vital geographic market. Thrun, who previously served as Vice President and General Manager of the U.S. Upper Respiratory category, will also join Bayer’s U.S. Country Leadership Team.

“These leadership changes mark an important step in strengthening our ability to best serve our consumers and customers in a dynamic marketplace,” Julio Triana, member of the Bayer Board of Management and President of Consumer Health, said.

Triana emphasized that the new team is tasked with breaking down silos to combine brand building with data-driven insights.

“We aim to build an organization that is faster and even better positioned to reach more consumers and deliver on our strategic priorities,” he added, noting that unlocking the potential of AI will be crucial to modernizing Bayer’s staple household brands.
