HarbourView Equity Partners, the Newark-based investment firm specializing in sports, media, and entertainment, has announced a new strategic partnership with legendary 11-time GRAMMY Award-winner Chaka Khan. The deal, announced this week, marks a significant milestone in Khan’s career as she embarks on a new creative chapter focused on catalog development, global licensing, and the creation of new ventures.
The collaboration comes at a time of renewed cultural visibility for the music icon. Khan is currently riding the momentum of her recent single, “Chakzilla,” and the massive success of the Queens! 4 Legends, 1 Stage tour, which was recognized by Billboard as one of the highest-grossing R&B tours of the year.
Sherrese Clarke, founder and CEO of HarbourView, praised Khan’s enduring impact on music and culture.
“Chaka Khan is a remarkable talent—an artist whose voice, spirit, and presence have moved effortlessly across generations while never losing their power or soul,” Clarke said. “As both a musical force and a fashion icon, Chaka embodies a rare blend of strength, style, and spirit. We are honored to work alongside her as she continues to evolve her legacy.”
For Khan, the partnership is grounded in a shared understanding of the value of her music. With a career spanning over five decades and 22 albums, Khan remains a towering figure in popular culture. Her influence is cemented by a 2023 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a 2026 GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Music is the most powerful and generous thing I know; you give it away and somehow it always comes back bigger,” Khan said. “Seeing these songs still finding new ears and new hearts fills me up with joy. This beautiful group at HarbourView gets what my music means, not just as a business, but as a body of love. That matters to me deeply.”
The agreement further expands HarbourView’s growing influence in the music industry. Since its launch in 2021, the firm has built a diversified portfolio of over 70 music catalogs and approximately $3.88 billion in regulatory assets under management.
HarbourView, which manages the rights of iconic artists like Kelly Clarkson, T-Pain, and the estate of the late Christine McVie, focuses on data-driven, long-term stewardship of premium intellectual property. By partnering with Khan, the firm continues its mission to protect and elevate the legacies of the world’s most significant creative voices.
