Marquis Health honors America’s 250th anniversary with ‘Home, anew,’ a book celebrating senior stories

In a meaningful tribute to the nation’s semiquincentennial anniversary, the Marquis Health Consulting Services Senior Living team has published “Home, anew: 250 Voices of Belonging and Community, Celebrating Our Nation’s 250th Year.” The commemorative collection features more than 250 stories, memories, and reflections from residents, families, and staff members across the senior living communities supported by Marquis.

Proceeds from the book—which is now available for preview and purchase on Amazon—will directly benefit the American Heart Association.

A legacy of resilience and connection

The project was spearheaded by Victoria Dubesky, regional director of life enrichment for Marquis. The essays within “Home, anew” delve into deeply personal narratives, ranging from immigration journeys and military service to lifelong marriages and family traditions. These firsthand accounts serve as a historical reflection of what it means to call America home.

“This project was brought to life not only to honor our nation’s 250 years, but also to celebrate the incredible lives of these residents and staff who amaze us every day by sharing their stories and experiences,” Dubesky said. “My hope is that each of these stories leaves a lasting legacy in print.”

The book’s front cover design reflects this spirit of collaboration, having been created by a resident at Oxford Enhanced Senior Living, a Marquis-supported community in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

Celebrating the American experience

Marquis leadership views the book as an opportunity to bridge generations and highlight the shared values that have shaped the country over the last two and a half centuries.

‘Home, anew’ is more than a collection of memories; it offers a unique perspective on the American experience and celebrates the many ways people create their own sense of home,” Barry Munk, CEO of Marquis said. “We hope that the stories and journeys from these communities can help others find their own inspiration.”

Nationwide celebrations

To mark the book’s release and honor America’s 250th birthday, Marquis-supported senior living facilities are planning a series of celebrations:

  • Illumination: Starting July 1, facilities will light up in red, white, and blue to commemorate the nation’s milestone.
  • Community Engagement: Local communities are invited to attend upcoming book signings at Marquis-supported locations, where contributors will share excerpts of their personal stories aloud.

Marquis Health Consulting Services, a third-generation family-owned firm, provides administrative consulting for 112 skilled nursing and senior living communities along the Eastern Seaboard. Its “Live, anew” philosophy focuses on providing residents with engaging, purposeful lifestyles.
