TD Bank U.S. has announced a major strategic shift in its organizational structure Monday morning. The Mount Laurel headquartered financial institute appointed Jill Gateman as the new head of U.S. Commercial Banking.
The appointment coincides with TD’s move to integrate its Corporate, Commercial, Small Business, and Regional Banking segments into a single, unified model. By bringing these business lines under one leader, the bank aims to streamline its operations, accelerate growth, and provide a more connected, comprehensive suite of solutions for its clients.
As Head of U.S. Commercial Banking, Gateman will oversee the end-to-end delivery of products and client coverage. Her expansive portfolio will include middle-market banking, treasury management, healthcare lending, institutional commercial real estate, and government and not-for-profit banking, among other specialized finance areas.
Leo Salom, president and CEO of TD Bank U.S., praised Gateman’s leadership and her history with the firm.
“Jill is an exceptional leader who has been instrumental in advancing TD’s Commercial Banking business,” Salom said. “She has consistently translated a strong strategic vision into results—strengthening our platform, expanding our capabilities, improving how we serve clients and developing top teams.”
Gateman brings significant institutional expertise to the role, particularly in fostering collaboration between Commercial Banking and TD Securities to deliver full-service solutions. She has also been a key advocate for investing in digital innovation and AI-enabled tools to enhance client offerings.
Under this new integrated structure, the bank plans to focus on expanding its sponsor and specialty finance capabilities while deepening sector expertise across its Regional and Small Business banking footprints.
“Our clients are at the center of everything we do, and I’m proud of the strong foundation we’ve built across our Commercial Banking businesses,” Gateman said. “What sets TD apart is our ability to combine deep expertise with a relationship-driven approach. I’m excited to build on our momentum and lead this next chapter.”
