Aerospace and defense supplier Marotta Controls has officially opened its new Parsippany facility, establishing a dedicated Center of Excellence for its Power and Actuation Systems division.
The new AS9100-certified facility consolidates engineering, development, manufacturing, assembly, and testing operations under one roof. While Marotta’s engineering and program management teams have operated out of Parsippany since 2022, the division’s manufacturing and physical operations remained at the company’s Montville headquarters. The transition successfully brings both technical and operational teams together in a single location to support the company’s fastest-growing product line.
The newly designed space adds approximately 50,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity alongside a 12,000-square-foot design and development lab. Using lean manufacturing value stream mapping, the facility’s floor plan is structured to enable a logical, sequential workflow from shipping and receiving through production. Crucially, the site features in-house thermal, shock, and vibration testing capabilities, removing the logistical overhead of transporting hardware between external testing locations.
“The Parsippany facility was designed from a clean sheet of paper,” Steve Fox, senior vice president of Power and Actuation Systems at Marotta Controls, said. “By minimizing product movement and maximizing workflow efficiency, we have the ideal environment for collaboration, innovation, and significantly reduced development timelines.”
Marotta’s Power and Actuation division is uniquely organized around platform-agnostic power supplies and actuation systems rather than specific end markets. The business unit is currently focusing on expanding its footprints in naval and space programs, building on momentum that recently earned the company its fifth Exceptional Small Business Performance Award from Lockheed Martin.
“Power and Actuation has been our fastest-growing product line for a reason: the team delivers,” Patrick Marotta, president and CEO of Marotta Controls, said. “This facility is our investment in their continued success, and another sign of our commitment to staying and growing right here in New Jersey.”
Sized to accommodate ongoing demand, the Parsippany site is positioned to absorb future headcount. Marotta Controls has added approximately 300 employees companywide over the past three years and plans to continue hiring to match production volumes driven by new aerospace and defense contract wins.
