New Jersey ranks among top states in nation in latest U.S. News Report

New Jersey continues to demonstrate strong performance across critical public sectors, securing a prominent position in the latest U.S. News & Best States Rankings.

The comprehensive annual study evaluates states by analyzing thousands of individual data points spanning eight major categories: healthcare, education, economy, infrastructure, public safety, fiscal stability, natural environment, and economic opportunity.

State officials and policy analysts closely monitor the rankings, which heavily weigh what residents value most. Health care and education carry the most significant weight in the methodology, followed closely by state economies, infrastructure, and overall resident opportunity. Fiscal stability, crime and corrections metrics, and the natural environment round out the evaluation criteria.

New Jersey’s standing lands at No. 20 overall and reflects ongoing investments in its world-class public education system, (earning the second-best education ranking in the nation), high-performing health care networks, and robust economic infrastructure.
