HelloFresh to close South Jersey facility, eliminating 374 jobs

Meal-delivery giant HelloFresh is preparing to close its meal-assembly and distribution facility located at 1130 Commerce Boulevard in Logan Township (with a Swedesboro mailing address), resulting in the elimination of 374 jobs. The news was first reported by the Cherry Hill Courier-Post.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development, the facility is slated to cease operations this fall, with permanent employee separations effective by Nov. 17.

The shutdown is part of a broader corporate cost-cutting program and “transfer of operations” for the financially pressured company. HelloFresh noted that its current facility footprint exceeds business needs, prompting a strategic shift toward consolidating production into high-volume, highly efficient sites.

The South Jersey closure follows a similar plant shutdown in suburban Chicago last month that impacted 254 jobs.

The parent company, Germany-based HelloFresh Group, reported an 11.2% decline in revenue during the first half of its fiscal year, alongside a 13.7% drop in meal-kit orders. In response, the firm has pulled back on marketing expenses to prioritize profitability and operational efficiency.

Impacted employees are being offered potential internal transfer opportunities at remaining HelloFresh facilities in Newark, Colorado and Arizona, according to the company.

While the Logan Township site is closing, HelloFresh maintains other regional operations, including its major distribution center in Newark.
