St. Joseph’s Health Foundation has unveiled its honorees for its milestone 50th Annual Gala, recognizing two local leaders and a regional non-profit for their outstanding contributions to healthcare and community service.
The black-tie affair—St. Joseph’s Health’s premier fundraising event of the year—is scheduled for Oct. 29, at The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains. Historically raising more than $1 million annually, the gala raises critical funding to support patient care initiatives, expand health services, and accelerate medical innovation across the health system.
This year’s honorees include:
- Michael M. Mainero, MD (Kendrick P. Lance Distinguished Physician Award): A founding partner of Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey, LLC, Dr. Mainero is being recognized for his clinical leadership, commitment to innovation, and medical education. He currently serves as President of the Medical Staff and Chief of Endoscopy at St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center.
- Robert Paz, CPA (Robert L. Marcalus Legacy Award): Chief Financial Officer of Railroad Construction Company, Paz is being honored for his extensive board leadership and civic service. A St. Joseph’s Health Board Trustee since 2016 who serves on its Finance and Audit committees, Paz also lends his expertise and time to local organizations including Eva’s Village, Oasis, and the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson.
- The Valerie Fund (Michael and Yolanda Simonelli Community Award): Celebrating its own 50th anniversary this year, the non-profit organization is being recognized for its long-standing partnership in providing specialized, local care for pediatric patients battling cancer and blood disorders and supporting their families.
“Our Gala honorees embody the compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication to serving others and making a lasting difference in our communities,” Robert Budelman, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at St. Joseph’s Health, said. “The Foundation Gala is an opportunity to unite our community in support of a healthier future. Our supporters’ generosity directly strengthens the care we provide, expands vital services, and drives innovation for our patients.”
