Berkeley College Foundation appoints nonprofit leader Caraballo as executive director

The Berkeley College Foundation has officially announced the appointment of Nico Caraballo as its new Executive Director, effective Aug. 31.

Caraballo, a resident of Linden, brings over 26 years of executive leadership and nonprofit experience to the role, having previously served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors since May 2025. His career includes leadership positions as Chief Development Officer for the Ironbound Community Corporation in Newark, the Office of Special Education at Newark Public Schools, and national music education nonprofit Little Kids Rock.

In addition to his nonprofit sector work, Caraballo is deeply embedded in Garden State business and civic initiatives. He serves on the Executive Board of the Linden Economic Development Corporation, is a graduate of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey Entrepreneurship Training Program and founded the social-impact luxury watch venture Nicasio & Co. Horology.

Established in 2017, the Berkeley College Foundation provides critical resources and scholarships to support students pursuing higher education, having awarded nearly $340,000 to more than 90 high-achieving, need-based students to date. Berkeley College itself operates campuses across New York City and New Jersey—including Newark, Woodbridge, and Woodland Park—serving more than 4,000 students. In his new post, Caraballo aims to expand strategic partnerships and broaden community investment to help students overcome financial barriers to academic and career success.
