Gov. Mikie Sherrill is promoting her administration’s new health initiative, which encourages vaccines, physicals and other preventive health care before students return to school.
The state health department is partnering with RWJBarnabas and others in the health community for the “Stay Well, Learn Well” initiative, which includes bringing mobile health clinics into communities. Sherrill was in Orange on Thursday to tour an RWJBarnabas pediatric mobile health van.
“We’re making it easier for families across New Jersey to get the care their children need,” she said.
Sherrill, a first-term Democrat and mother of four, has criticized federal vaccine policies under Republican President Donald Trump that she says threaten public health.
“Here in New Jersey, we protect kids’ health, so they can thrive in school,” she said.
Health officials have a series of “Stay Well, Learn Well” events planned through December, including community health days, vaccine clinics, and appearances at local events.
