Vonage named a major provider in Aragon Research’s newly defined ICX category

Cloud communications leader Vonage, anchored locally in Monmouth County, has been named a major provider in the newly established Intelligent Communications Experience (ICX) category by Aragon Research.

The recognition coincides with a landmark industry report from Aragon Research identifying ICX as a major emerging enterprise technology category. The framework addresses a fundamental evolution in business communications by officially collapsing the historical operational divide between Unified Communications & Collaboration (UCC) and Intelligent Contact Center (ICC) infrastructure.

According to Aragon Research, enterprises historically operate between eight and 12 disjointed communication tools, generating operational silos, inflated maintenance overhead, and security vulnerabilities that inhibit artificial intelligence from scaling properly. The newly defined ICX framework resolves this fragmentation by merging voice, video, messaging, and advanced contact center orchestration into a cohesive platform layer built specifically to support a blended workforce of human employees and autonomous AI agents.

Market analysts project that the overarching ICX platform ecosystem will surge to $251.83 billion by 2031, with up to 40% of that expansion driven by organizations replacing legacy, piecemeal software stacks.

Aragon’s architectural blueprint for ICX relies on four foundational tiers: core enterprise voice, video, and messaging capabilities; the ICX Engine, which modernizes contact centers into enterprise-wide orchestration hubs; a pervasive AI Fabric powering real-time automation and analytics; and the Agentic Channel, a model designed to treat digital and human agents as collaborative peers.

Jim Lundy, CEO and Lead Analyst at Aragon Research, noted that Vonage serves as a blueprint for the category. “They have done the hard work of unifying UCaaS, CCaaS, and AI into a single, cohesive platform—exactly the architecture ICX demands,” Lundy stated. “As enterprises face mounting pressure to eliminate communication silos and deploy AI agents as frontline workers, Vonage is uniquely positioned to guide them through every phase of that transformation.”

Vonage’s unified offering brings together front- and back-office voice, video, messaging, and contact center capabilities underpinned by programmable communications and network APIs. Executive leadership emphasizes that the designation validates years of strategic development focused on embedding AI natively into cross-functional business communications.

“The emergence of ICX as a defined category validates what we have been building and delivering for our customers for years,” Reggie Scales, chief growth officer for Vonage, said. “The enterprises we serve are under real pressure to modernize how they communicate internally and how they engage with their customers. Vonage is uniquely positioned to help them do both—on a single platform, with AI built in from the ground up.”
