Deborah Heart and Lung Center recently announced that two of its executive leaders—Lewis Clark and Dr. Aaron Kugelmass—have been selected for the prestigious Honorary Commander Program at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) for the 2026–2027 term.
The program pairs distinguished local civic and business leaders with military unit commanders to foster enduring relationships between the base and the surrounding New Jersey communities.
Strengthening civilian-military ties
- Community Ambassadors: Jim Andrews, president and CEO of Deborah, praised the selections, noting both men are exceptional representatives capable of building robust community partnerships.
- Immersive Experience: The one-year term features quarterly base immersions, allowing leaders to tour flightlines, Army training areas at Fort Dix, and Navy systems at Lakehurst.
- Active Engagement: Inductees observe daily squadron operations, participate in civic meetings, and attend military ceremonies and banquets.
Meet the honorees
- Lewis Clark: Serving as Vice President of Marketing, Media, Public Relations, and Patient Experience, Clark brings over 25 years of healthcare executive experience. He is actively involved in regional leadership, including the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
- Dr. Aaron Kugelmass: A Harvard Medical School graduate board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Kugelmass serves as Deborah’s Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. He is a recognized clinical researcher and expert in interventional cardiology and healthcare quality improvement.
