Anita Miller, chief certified registered nurse anesthetist at Cooper Norcross University Hospital, has been named APP of the Year by National APP Week. Selected from a competitive pool of more than 100 nominees nationwide, Miller is being recognized for her exceptional leadership, clinical innovation, and dedication to patient safety.
The announcement was made during National APP Week, an annual celebration held during the fourth week of September that honors the critical contributions of advanced practice providers across health care teams.
Miller’s leadership has driven significant operational and safety advancements within the health system, including:
- Daily Safety Huddles: Established routine communication forums to provide real-time problem-solving and critical safety updates across all practice sites.
- Culture of Readiness: Spearheaded initiatives ensuring the department maintains a 24/7 survey readiness standard, embedding quality into everyday care.
- Restructured Leadership Platform: Redesigned the CRNA leadership model into six specialized roles focused on operations, quality, safety, education, and patient experience.
- Technological Innovation: Championed the development of an in-house scheduling platform to streamline workforce management.
- Community Impact: Guided her department through seven consecutive years of volunteer support for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.
