Valley Bank appoints banking veteran Brendan Walsh as regional president for Middle Market Banking in New Jersey

Valley Bank has expanded its regional leadership team with the appointment of Brendan Walsh as Senior Vice President and Regional President for Middle Market Banking in New Jersey.

In his new role, Walsh will spearhead the growth of Valley’s middle market and corporate banking portfolios across the state, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to supporting mid-sized enterprises.

Walsh brings more than 35 years of banking experience to Valley, joining the institution from M&T Bank, where he held several senior leadership roles overseeing middle market banking. His extensive background also includes leadership positions as a senior vice president for middle market banking at both Chase Bank and PNC Bank.

Curt Lang, Chief Banking Officer for New Jersey at Valley, noted that middle market businesses represent an increasingly vital segment of the bank’s overall portfolio.

“Our middle market business represents a growing and increasingly important portion of the Bank’s overall portfolio, underscoring the need to bring in a seasoned banking executive to lead the team and capitalize on the significant opportunities ahead,” Lang said. “Brendan has spent most of his career focused on leading and managing middle market and mid-corporate banking businesses. His deep industry expertise… and proven track record make him an excellent addition to our leadership team.”

As businesses navigate complex and shifting economic landscapes, Walsh emphasizes a relationship-driven approach to client partnership and tailored financial support.

“Middle market businesses have unique and evolving financial needs, and I am excited to work closely with our clients to understand their goals, anticipate their challenges, and deliver tailored financial solutions that support their growth and long-term success,” Walsh said.

Headquartered in Morristown, Valley National Bank—the principal subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp—operates with approximately $66 billion in assets, delivering comprehensive commercial, consumer, and wealth management solutions across multiple states.
