Festivalgoers attending Madison’s annual Bottle Hill Day this Saturday, Oct. 3, will have more than just street food and local crafts to look forward to. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is bringing a high-stakes scavenger hunt to the celebration, offering attendees a chance to win free coffee for a year.
As a sponsor of the beloved community street festival, the café franchise will hide 10 small, numbered Bad Ass Coffee donkeys in popular spots throughout the heart of town.
How the scavenger hunt works
- The Search: Ten branded donkeys will be hidden around Madison during Bottle Hill Day, inviting locals and visitors to explore the community.
- The Reward: Finding a donkey and bringing it to the brand’s local café at 14 Lincoln Place on Bottle Hill Day unlocks the grand prize: a year’s worth of free coffee.
- The Legend: The hidden donkeys pay homage to the brand’s history, honoring the hardworking animals that once carried coffee beans down the steep mountain slopes of Hawaii’s Big Island and earned the affectionate nickname “the Bad Ass Ones.”
To build excitement ahead of Saturday’s festivities, the Madison café is rolling out a three-day lineup of special promotions:
- Wednesday, Sept. 30: Buy a Medium or Big Kahuna drink and get a free bakery item.
- Thursday, Oct. 1: Enjoy 25% off all merchandise and 15% off coffee beans.
- Friday, Oct. 2: The first five customers each hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. receive a free medium-sized drink.
“We love being part of the Madison community, and Bottle Hill Day is the perfect opportunity to have some fun with our neighbors,” Tyler Bowman, franchise owner of New Jersey’s Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii locations, said. “What better way to celebrate than by sending people on a little adventure around town in search of our Bad Ass donkeys?”
Located at 14 Lincoln Place and open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii serves premium Hawaiian coffee sourced from Kona, Kauai, and Maui, alongside blended drinks, teas, and island-inspired breakfast and lunch options. New visitors can also sign up for the ’Ohana Rewards loyalty program to receive $5 off and 89 bonus points (Lei) after their first purchase.
