Community leaders, advocates, and supporters from across the Garden State will gather this fall for an impactful afternoon of service, collaboration, and dialogue. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is hosting its annual North Jersey Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon on Oct. 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany.
The high-profile event aims to raise vital funds and awareness to combat food insecurity, supporting children, students, and families throughout New Jersey who struggle with hunger.
Hands-on service and expert insight
True to CFBNJ’s mission of direct community action, the luncheon will kick off with an interactive volunteer hour. Attendees will work side-by-side to pack essential meal kits for New Jersey neighbors in need before transitioning into a formal program and lunch.
The event’s keynote presentation will feature Priya Fielding-Singh, a prominent sociologist, food policy expert, and author. Fielding-Singh’s research explores the complex intersections of food, health, and social inequality. During the program, she will discuss:
- The intense financial pressures that dictate everyday family food choices.
- The specific challenges facing New Jersey’s ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households.
- The deep links connecting food access directly to health, educational outcomes, and economic mobility.
