As it marks its 40th anniversary, Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) announced a major leadership transition. Megan Varrell—a long-time board member, former resource development director, and community leader—has been officially appointed as the organization’s new executive director, succeeding Scott Bosley.

Board President Ronda Abbruzzese expressed enthusiasm for the transition, praising both the outgoing leadership and Varrell’s deep ties to the organization.
“We are so grateful for all of the incredible work Scott did in his time with Gloucester County Habitat,” Abbruzzese shared. “We couldn’t imagine a better successor than Meg, who has long been a dedicated, passionate member of the Habitat family, and whose experience will be invaluable as we continue growing.”
Varrell brings a wealth of local experience to the role, with a career dedicated to community tourism, inclusive programming, small business support, and forging strong connections between local government, businesses, nonprofits, and residents. Prior to working with the Borough of Glassboro, Varrell spent over three years leading GCHFH’s fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement initiatives as its Resource Development Director.
Most recently serving on the organization’s board, Varrell expressed excitement about stepping into the full-time executive role.
“Growing up in Gloucester County, I have come to believe that strong communities are built when people have the opportunity to come together and invest in one another,” Varrell said. “As Executive Director, I am committed to strengthening Habitat’s relationships throughout the county and helping advance our mission of creating safe, decent, and affordable housing opportunities for families.”
Outside of her professional and board commitments, Varrell is an active community advocate. Following the birth of her son Henry—who spent 57 days in the Cooper NICU—she became a passionate advocate for NICU families and nurses. She resides in the county with her wife, Lauren, and son, and enjoys spending time in North Wildwood.
