Highlighting a deep corporate commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable waste solutions leader Reworld® mobilized employees across the country in September to celebrate World Cleanup Day. Partnering with local municipalities, community groups, and volunteers, teams tackled litter removal, invasive vegetation clearing, and vital neighborhood beautification projects.
“Environmental stewardship extends beyond our facilities and into the communities we serve,” Alyssa Wilds, Senior Director of Corporate & Community Relations at Reworld, said. “World Cleanup Day is an opportunity for our employees to work alongside local partners to improve public spaces, support cleaner communities and make a meaningful impact where we live and work.”
Reworld’s New Jersey teams played a prominent role in this year’s nationwide initiative:
- Rahway: Employees rolled up their sleeves at Rahway Riverfront Park, dedicating time to clean and beautify the popular public space.
- Newark: Demonstrating exceptional community dedication, Reworld employees cleared litter from facility access roads and surrounding city streets. Their impressive haul of 84 bags of garbage earned the team first place and the prestigious Gold Broom Award during the city’s Slam Dunk the Junk community cleanup event.
Nationwide impact
From coast to coast, Reworld teams joined hands with local environmental organizations to revitalize public spaces:
- Maryland and Virginia: Employees from Derwood, Dickerson, and Alexandria teamed up with the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail and local volunteers to remove trash and invasive vegetation at Gravelly Point, enhancing safety and cleanliness along the outdoor corridor.
- Florida: In Lee County, employees partnered with Keep Lee County Beautiful to target and clear a local litter hotspot.
- New York: Long Island teams from Ronkonkoma and West Babylon collaborated with Save the Great South Bay, while staff in Westbury and East Northport spearheaded community cleanups in their respective neighborhoods.
- Pennsylvania: The Chester team focused on maintaining its adopted stretch of Highland Avenue, ensuring a cleaner environment for local residents.
Headquartered in Florham Park Reworld continues to champion sustainability initiatives, proving that corporate responsibility extends far beyond waste management into active, grassroots community engagement.
