Ryder System, Inc. has significantly expanded its commercial vehicle footprint in northern New Jersey, establishing two new strategic locations to better serve one of North America’s busiest freight and logistics markets.
The company has relocated and expanded its former Kearny facility into a larger site in Newark and opened a brand-new sales center in North Bergen. Together, these investments position Ryder closer to major East Coast ports, vital transportation corridors, and key customer bases across the Northeast.
Northern New Jersey serves as a primary gateway for international trade and domestic distribution, making it an essential hub for the U.S. supply chain. The new facilities are strategically tailored to capture this heavy traffic:
- Newark Facility (474 Wilson Avenue): Relocated from Kearny, this expanded site places Ryder at the heart of the regional freight network. Providing direct access to the Port of Newark, Interstate 95, and Newark Liberty International Airport, the location consolidates multiple Ryder fleet management solutions under one roof to streamline operations and support integrated port-to-door transportation.
- North Bergen Facility (6214 Tonnelle Avenue): Situated along the heavily traveled U.S. Route 1-9 corridor directly across from New York City, this marks Ryder’s first used vehicle sales location south of the George Washington Bridge, offering high visibility and convenient access in a densely populated logistics market.
“Northern New Jersey is one of the most important transportation markets in North America, making it a natural fit to expand our used vehicle sales network,” Eric Upchurch, vice president of vehicle sales at Ryder said. “These locations bring us closer to the customers, carriers, and logistics operations that drive the regional economy…”
In addition to physical expansion, the new centers grant regional buyers enhanced access to Ryder’s certified inventory, backed by customer programs like the Ryder Vehicle Assurance Program. This includes a complimentary 60-day limited warranty available through the end of the year on eligible DOT-verified used commercial vehicles.
