Community spirit shifted into high gear on Oct. 2, as Ramsey High School raised $6,850 for its automotive education program during a Mazda Be Moved Drive event, which also marked the grand opening of the school’s new RAM (Robotics, Auto, and Makerspace) Center.
Hosted in partnership with Ramsey Mazda, the community test-drive event drew 137 participants. Under the Mazda Be Moved Drive Program, Mazda contributes $50 to participating schools for every qualifying test drive—up to $10,000 per event. The funds raised will directly support tools, equipment, and resources for hands-on automotive training, giving students real-world experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
In addition to the test drives, the event served as the official ribbon-cutting for the state-of-the-art RAM Center, designed to foster collaborative, project-based learning.
“It is an honor to welcome the Mazda team and members of our community to Ramsey High School for the Mazda Be Moved event and the grand opening of Ramsey’s RAM Center,” Dr. Andrew Matteo, superintendent of the Ramsey School District, said. “Events such as this underscore how essential the RAM Center is as a collaborative center for real-world learning, equipping our students to become resilient, responsible, and ready for tomorrow.”
Now in its second year in New Jersey—following a successful event at Lakewood High School in 2025—the Mazda Be Moved Drive Program continues to connect local dealerships with educational initiatives. The tour’s next stop in the Garden State will be hosted by Pine Belt Mazda at Brick Township High School on October 20.
