ShopRite kicks off annual Cheerios contest to combat hunger

ShopRite Partners In Caring (SRPIC), the Keasbey-based supermarket’s hunger-fighting initiative, has launched its annual Cheerios Contest. The campaign, in partnership with General Mills, encourages store associates to raise funds to support local food banks and other organizations that provide food assistance. This year’s contest runs through Oct. 4.

Stores that raise the most money will be recognized in a unique way: their associates’ photos will be featured on special-edition Cheerios cereal boxes in March. This recognition highlights the dedication of the store teams to the cause of fighting food insecurity.

According to Alexandra Emery, manager of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility for ShopRite, the contest is a “meaningful way to bring people together and make a real difference.” Shoppers can contribute by donating at checkout during the fundraising period, which coincides with Hunger Action Month in September.

Since its inception in 1999, the ShopRite Partners In Caring program has raised nearly $65 million to support more than 2,500 local charities across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The contest has become a cherished tradition that reinforces ShopRite’s commitment to the communities it serves.
