AtlantiCare names Dr. Kay Yoon-Flannery as chief of women’s oncology

AtlantiCare recently appointed nationally recognized breast surgical oncologist Dr. Kay Yoon-Flannery as the new chief of women’s oncology at the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute. In this role, Yoon-Flannery will lead the strategic expansion of the comprehensive Women’s Oncology Program.

Yoon-Flannery is a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist known for her advanced techniques. Her role will involve both guiding the program’s growth and continuing her surgical practice, reflecting her commitment to maintaining a close connection with patients.

“I’m honored to be joining the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute as Chief of Women’s Oncology,” Yoon-Flannery said. “My vision is for women to feel supported and connected through every stage of their journey, without having to piece it together on their own.” She aims to align breast, gynecologic, and genetic cancer services to create a more integrated and easier-to-navigate experience for patients.

Joseph Lombardi, chief physician executive at AtlantiCare, praised her appointment, calling her a “women’s health care visionary and a gifted surgeon.” He added that her leadership will mark a turning point in how cancer care is delivered to women across the region.

The program uses breast health as a key entry point, connecting patients with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and support staff who work together to ensure continuity of care from prevention and early detection through treatment, genetic counseling, and survivorship.
