William Paterson University and PCCC partner on new 3+1 degree programs

In a move aimed at expanding educational opportunities and strengthening the local economy, William Paterson University and Passaic County Community College (PCCC) have officially partnered to launch new 3+1 degree programs. This innovative agreement provides a seamless, affordable pathway for PCCC students to earn a bachelor’s degree in a range of high-demand majors.

The new programs allow students to complete their first three years of coursework at PCCC before transferring to William Paterson University for their final year. This streamlined curriculum is designed to make a four-year degree more accessible, particularly for residents of Passaic County.

“We are excited to partner with PCCC to provide the students of Passaic County and our broader region with more pathways to earning a William Paterson bachelor’s degree and launching rewarding careers in high-demand fields,” University President Richard Helldobler said. He emphasized that an increase in bachelor’s degrees directly contributes to a stronger local economy.

PCCC President Steven Rose highlighted the program’s value in offering a high-quality, affordable degree without requiring students to leave Passaic County.

Available programs and benefits

The new 3+1 programs cover a variety of in-demand fields, including:

  • Business: Students can transition from an Associate of Science in Business Administration to a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Psychology: An Associate of Arts in Psychology can now lead directly to a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

A key benefit for students is a four-year curriculum that is already mapped out for these programs. In addition, jointly admitted students will have their transfer application fees waived.

According to Joshua Powers, provost at William Paterson University, this partnership also opens the door for PCCC students to pursue accelerated graduate degrees, such as the university’s 4+1 BS/MBA program. Both institutions are committed to addressing educational needs within their shared communities and are looking forward to future collaborations.
