Berlin Rehab & Healthcare unveils multi-million-dollar renovation at grand reopening

Berlin Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday, marking the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation and modernization with a Grand Reopening Open House.

The skilled nursing facility, located at 100 Long-A-Coming Lane, provides post-hospital care, short-term rehabilitation, and long-term residential care to the Camden County community, which it has served for over 25 years.

Nearly 100 guests, including Berlin Mayor Rick Miller and leaders from Virtua Health and Jefferson Health, joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

State-of-the-art rehab and modern design

The modernization focused on updating 17,000 square feet of the center to support its mission of providing transformative skilled nursing care. Key highlights of the full-center renovation include:

  • Expanded Rehab Therapy Gym: The new gym features state-of-the-art equipment and technology to deliver progressive rehab services.
  • Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Suite: A spacious suite was created to mimic a home environment, including a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, allowing patients to practice and regain real-world skills before returning home.
  • Aesthetic Updates: Renovation work updated the lobby and subacute wing, including patient rooms, to feature a modern, warm, and energizing design with a white and navy color palette accented with teal.

According to Kate Bauer, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, the new design pairs “a high level of functionality with an uplifting aesthetic—it’s just gorgeous.”

Enhanced specialty programming

Alongside the physical updates, Berlin Rehab has continued to enhance its clinical offerings. A recent addition is OrthoWIN, a highly specialized subacute care program designed for orthopedic recovery, directed by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist, Dr. Tracey Harris.

The facility’s specialty care programming also includes a well-established Cardiac Care Program. Berlin Rehab is an American Heart Association Heart Failure Certified Skilled Nursing Center and holds a prestigious accreditation from The Joint Commission, underscoring its commitment to advanced quality care and services.
