Bancroft, a nonprofit provider of services for individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, has named Brian Hancock as president & CEO.
Hancock has served as acting CEO since June. His appointment follows leadership changes after the departure of Toni Pergolin, who retired in January after 22 years with Bancroft. Gregory Passanante became the next CEO, but left in May after a mutual separation, according to Rebecca Fuller, chief of staff.
Bancroft, headquartered in Cherry Hill, has four special education schools, over 200 residential programs, day and employment services, and programs for those with brain injuries and neurological conditions. As the organization begins its three-year strategic plan, Hancock will begin to craft his vision for the organization’s future.
“Bancroft, along with our partners from around the region, is poised to be a powerful voice for the future of care for those with disabilities,” Hancock said. “I look forward to providing more access to the services families so desperately need.”
Hancock began with Bancroft in 2022 as chief program officer. He was named chief operating officer in 2025 before becoming acting president and CEO this year. Before Bancroft, he served as executive director at Devereux New Jersey and chief operating officer at Robins’ Nest.
Hancock received a B.A., cum laude, from Wheaton College and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law. He served as president of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Association of Community Providers and has supported humanitarian and advocacy work for at-risk and incarcerated youth. He has received several awards for his work, including the Embracing the Legacy award from Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps. and the Spirit of Crazy Horse award from Reclaiming Youth International.
